My Pronouns

“I am that (or who) I am.” God is a word, any word that follows the verb. Therefore, words matter.

My words for the new year are Help, Support, Guidance, Assistance.

These words are best known as actions and verbs. They are also well-used as subject nouns; props in a story. I love that one grows larger when both giving and receiving these words. However, I intend to increase their significance to being the main characters of my story; my essence, the personalities which encapsulate the description of my personhood. These are my pronouns.

I’ve asked myself- what are the feelings and passions which excite me everyday? They are feelings which originate from these action words. So, this year, I am becoming more of them.

As a senior-level STEM professional, my overall performance evaluations require a good showing of how much do I help others, mentor others, and share my knowledge. It amazes me that there are senior level professionals who don’t help others. Why don’t they?

A negative outcome for a Helper, is to only give to others and to not receive help from others. Another is not helping one’s self. A Helper can become depleted of energy and resources; unable to continue the passionate work they enjoy. Any personality comes with its challenges, baggage and ideal benefits.

As I walk in my becoming, I commit to help my body, mind and spirit, by moving more, meditating and measuring. Moving my body and maintaining the health of the universe of cells that I’m directly responsible for and can’t live without. Advancing my thinking and knowledge. Enjoying travel and prospecting new places to live. Meditation is a new practice for me and it helps me control my thoughts and where I focus. Measure- a proven approach to improve finances, communication and food management.

Not only do words matter, but so do actions and the intentions behind them. I’m building new systems based on a new mission to drive the outcomes I want. Wish me luck!
